AMD Ryzen Logo
The AMD Ryzen 5 5600G from the Cezanne processor family has six CPU cores based on the "Zen 3" architecture. After "Zen", "Zen+" and "Zen 2", this is the fourth generation of the Zen microarchitecture. Compared to the previous generation, each processor core now has access to the entire L3 cache, which significantly increases performance in games. In addition, the Ryzen 5000 processors offer significantly increased per-clock performance and a higher boost clock.

The AMD Ryzen 5 5600G supports the PCI Express 3.0 standard. All Ryzen 5000 processors use the AM4 platform and were developed for use on AMD 500 series chipsets. The prerequisite is an update to BIOS version AGESA 1.0.8.0 or newer.

The AMD Ryzen 5 5600G at a Glance:

The AMD Ryzen 5 5600G 8 Core CPU with 4,4 GHz Precision Boost 2

AMD Ryzen 5 5600G Box
The AMD Ryzen 5 5600G has six physical CPU cores, each of which can process two threads at the same time thanks to simultaneous multithreading (SMT). This effectively doubles the number of processing cores to twelve with the additional six virtual cores. The Octa-Core processor operates with a high base clock of 3.9 GHz per core, which precisely adapts to the respective application scenario in real time by means of Precision Boost 2 and increases to up to 4.4 GHz Turbo within the scope of the Thermal Design Power (TDP) of 65 watts.

The silicon of the CPU cores is lithographed using the advanced 7nm FinFET manufacturing process with stacked transistors (also called 3D transistors) using Extreme Ultraviolet (EUV) technology. The space on the processor die gained by the greatly reduced structure sizes enables the integration of a total of 3 MB level 2 cache and 16 MB level 3 cache, which are particularly important for games.

The I/O chiplet in the CPU package responsible for the data lines is produced using 12 nm FinFET fabrication and provides 20 PCIe lanes, of which four lanes each are reserved for connection to the mainboard chipset and for connecting NVMe SSDs. This leaves 12 lanes for communication with graphics cards, while additional PCIe lanes are provided for other storage devices, expansion cards and peripherals depending on the motherboard chipset.

PCI-Express 3.0 with AMD X570 or B550 Chipsets

AMD Ryzen 5 Box
The AMD Ryzen 5 5600G supports the PCI Express standard in version 3.0. PCIe 3.0 is backwards compatible and can be used with all expansion cards from previous generations.

The AM4 platform also features external device connections such as USB 3.1 with Type A and/or Type C connectors and high data transfer rates of up to 10 Gbps. The CPU's integrated memory controller supports fast and energy-efficient DDR4 RAM in dual-channel mode without ECC error correction at a native clock frequency of 3,200 MHz, with significantly higher clock rates possible through overclocking.

AMD Vega - Highly efficient graphics chips for the desktop

AMD Ryzen Vega

The special feature of the APUs of the "Cezanne" series is the integrated Radeon graphics unit based on the Vega architecture. This merges the CPUs with "Zen 3" architecture and the graphics chips with Vega architecture into one efficient as well as powerful APU. The AMD Ryzen 5 5600G-APU is equipped with the Vega 8 GPU. In this configuration, the graphics chip has seven compute units with a total of 448 shaders at its disposal. The GPU base clock is 1,900 MHz.

Automatic overclocking with Precision Boost Overdrive

Precision Boost Overdrive
With AMD Zen 3, hardly anyone has to worry about overclocking, because the CPU takes care of it all by itself: The AMD Ryzen 5 5600G is equipped with the Auto-OC feature Precision Boost Overdrive, which can increase the processor clock above the factory-set maximum boost clock limit, provided sufficient CPU cooling is ensured.

Unlocked CPU: Manual overclocking thanks to free multiplier

In addition, all AMD Ryzen CPUs are "unlocked" and - as with the "Black Editions" and "K" variants of earlier model series - have a free multiplier, so that overclockers can easily increase the high clock speeds directly by hand in the BIOS or UEFI or by means of software tools (e.g. AMD Ryzen Master), assuming an appropriate motherboard with an OC-capable chipset and sufficient additional cooling.
